Release from Detention
Every foreign citizen who stays in Israel without a valid visa can be arrested by immigration police without any prior warning – and subsequently taken to jail.
The Israeli law allows the Ministry of Interior to imprison a foreign citizen for an unlimited period of time and deport him.
Sometimes, the Ministry of Interior makes a quick deportation decision and deports a person just a few days after their arrest even though the initial arrest may not have been.
Even when a foreign citizen has to leave the country, they are entitled to a brief organization period in which they can say goodbye to his friends and is allowed to collect his belongings.
As you understand, in case of a detention, it is vitally important to act quickly and effectively, and petition the court for an immediate release order detainee and grant him a legal status to stay in Israel.
In those cases every minute counts and any delay can prove decisive.
